  Community Frameworks' Built in Spokane Homeownership Program is focused on creating safe and affordable housing for first-time homebuyers. Homebuyer Education and Counseling are vital elements in helping our potential homebuyers prepare for and have long-term stability in homeownership.

Applicants for our Built in Spokane homeownership program and Down Payment Assistance are required to complete an approved homebuyer education course and receive individual pre-purchase counseling.

You must choose either option A or B.

Option A:
  • Online First Time Homebuyer Education Course. Community Frameworks offers online homebuyer education. The course, eHome America, may also be required by your First Mortgage Lender and meets the requirements for homebuyer education set forth by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission. This course is available at https://app.ehomeamerica.org/communityframeworks and can be completed at your convenience for a cost of $50.
 

AND


 
  • Individual Pre-Purchase Counselingwith our Housing Counselor. This includes an initial session to review budget, credit and more, as well as a follow-up session. There is no cost for Pre-Purchase counseling when paired with eHome America. We recommend that clients attend the class prior to their individual counseling session. A counselor will be automatically notified when you register for eHome America, and will contact you to initiate counseling.
 

OR


  Option B*:
  • In-person First Time Homebuyer Education Course that meets the standards of the Washington State Housing Finance Commission, and provide us with a Certificate of Completion. This course may also be required by your First Mortgage Lender. A list of locally available classes can be found at http://www.wshfc.org/buyers/education.htm. These are typically 5-8 hour classes held on Saturdays or split between two-three weeknights, and are available at no cost.
 

AND


 
  • Individual Pre-Purchase Counseling with our Housing Counselor. This includes an initial session to review budget, credit and more, as well as a follow-up session. The cost for counseling under this option is $175. Based upon your individual financial circumstances, this fee may be reduced on a sliding scale to $125, $75, or $0. We recommend that clients attend the class prior to their individual counseling session. Please contact our Housing Counselor (contact information below) to initiate counseling.

  *If receiving Project Reinvest Down Payment Assistance, contact HomeSight for approved alternatives to Option A. Option B is not available to those receiving Project Reinvest.
